ali. twenty. australia.

I'm Ali, twenty years young, living in beautiful Australia. Currently third year at university, studying a Bachelor of New Media Arts, majoring in Photography and Graphic Design. This blog is going to display my attempts at photography. I'm still learning and improving, now I just have to build an amazing portfolio and get myself out there.

Exposed, creativity unleashed.

Was the graduate exhibition I took part in at the end of last year. One of my subjects was all about organizing the exhibition. Which was a complete disorganised mess in my opinion, but I passed the subject and truthfully that was all that mattered.

The range of artwork shown was amazing. Funny how I'd been at university with most of these people for three years and yet I had no idea the extent of their talents. My artwork that was chosen wasn't my best, but it was what the panel chose and I have to be happy with that decision. I submitted many portraits and two light painting shots for something different and because I did like them. Of course due to the mass amount of portraits everyone else submitted, my least favourite, the light painting shots, were chosen.

I originally wanted to submit my final photography portfolio assignment, but unfortunately those images weren't ready yet when they wanted the submissions.

In the end it was a great opening, with lots of alcohol and many laughs. It was the first exhibition I've participated in and it wasn't bad.Truthfully I'm a terrible artist cause I really don't like art galleries, but hopefully as I get older I'll be able to appreciate them more.

Light Painting, 2 October 2012
, 10:12 PM

I've always wanted to experiment with light painting. So late one night my sister and my two friends drove to a deserted park with a massive field and had fun running around with torches and mobile phones creating different images. Without those three these images wouldn't be possible and I'm grateful for the fact they were willing to run around for hours and create awesomeness. Enjoy.

James Cook University Open Day
Wednesday, December 19, 2012, 4:37 PM

Khara, a fellow photographer from my class, and myself were asked to set up a fashion photo shoot for the James Cook University Open Day. Of course we planned to shoot many different girls but nothing goes to plan. Unfortunately out of the three, two got sick, but at least we had the beautiful Danni show up. It was a fun day, mainly with Khara and myself playing with different lighting set ups in the studio and of course talking to people who were interested in Photography and having many people come watch us.

To view Khara's work visit her website House of Lucie.
